Future revisions of this book can become the reference manual I have wanted for Fusion The portions of the book which need improvement include discussion of the effects of many of the options in command dialog boxes.

For example: Reference Dimensions do not appear in the book. At least I was unable to find them. I must be doing something differently without realizing it and I hoped to look it up. The book has a discussion of workspaces and named designs within the workspace.

There does not appear to be a note that in the free versions of Fusion only one Workspace is allowed. The book has an index but it is far from as useful as a good index would be. There is no index entry for “Model Dimension”.

I am impressed by the authors post on a discussion board that they will write a chapter on the sheet metal module and make it available to buyers of the book. The sheet metal module did not exist in the Fusion version available when they wrote the book. This book not much more than a brief walkthrough of each of the functions of Fusion It is probably OK for new users who want to become aware of what Fusion does. I was disappointed that it contained little in the way of how to design with and get the most out of Fusion I was looking for a book covering design techniques for more complex objects that would complement the range of excellent videos that already exist on the Autodesk Fusion website.

I was hoping it would also have, for example, tips and tricks and traps to watch out for and some trouble shooting advice. But there was almost none of that. The book will probably gather dust on my book shelf as I am already looking for a more articulate book on Fusion This book defines all of the icons and menu choices. Very helpfull for a student or novice and the new switch over user of Fusion It doe’s not waste time on telling how good Fusion is, it is all about your knowing what the software will do.

If you’re entirely new to CAD and or to Fusion , this is a great step-by-step walkthrough of the UI and the key concepts to build your first models in Fusion I must have missed something in reading the two other reviews.
